A key witness in a federal probe into passport information stolen from the State Department was fatally shot in front of a District church, the Metropolitan Police Department said yesterday.
Lt. Quarles Harris Jr., 24, who had been cooperating with a federal investigators, was found late Thursday night slumped dead inside a car, in front of the Judah House Praise Baptist Church in Northeast, said Cmdr. Michael Anzallo, head of the department's Criminal Investigations Division.
Cmdr. Anzallo said a police officer was patrolling the neighborhood when gunshots were heard, then Lt. Harris was found dead inside the vehicle, which investigators would describe only as a blue car.
Emergency medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
City police said they do not know whether his death was a direct result of his cooperation with federal investigators.
"We don't have any information right now that connects his murder to that case," Cmdr. Anzallo said.
Police say a "shot spotter" device helped an officer locate Lt. Harris.
A State Department spokeswoman yesterday declined to comment, saying the investigation into the passport fraud is ongoing.
The Washington Times reported April 5 that contractors for the State Department had improperly accessed passport information for presidential candidates Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain, which resulted in a series of firings that reached into the agency's top ranks.
One agency employee, who was not identified in documents filed in U.S. District Court, was implicated in a credit-card fraud scheme after Lt. Harris told federal authorities he obtained "passport information from a co-conspirator who works for the U.S. Department of State."
Good story, Bott, and 'way more than' suspicious, but it's actually from last April (just to clarify, not sure if you knew or not).
What are the odds I would stumble upon this exactly 1 year later?! Sorry guys! Time for editing.....
Bott, it had been in mind that someone involved with the passport incident had been murdered but I was starting to think I had simply dreamed it. Now, the story has surfaced again a year later so, at least, I know I didn't just dream it up.
The story of this murder didn't surprise me then and it won't surprise me if there are more highly suspicious murders (or "suicides") committed in order to keep the truth hidden about BO.

Thanks for keeping this story in front of our discussions. Since it did happen a while back I have not heard one follow-up to this tragic story. Like everything we know of BO's past. Thanks again for keeping this in the lime light, this story will be very important in the future.

That's allright, Bott, - - this is a story that's been kept so quiet, and with so little follow-up, few people know about it anyway, even to this day.
The dates really should have been mentioned in the re-hashing of the story.

I do believe the day in this country has come to a point where there needs to be term limits on the senate and president positions.
It should go like this for the senate you are there for fours years and the person could only run again after another term has expired.
The Presidents position can only be four years only and can never run again for the office.
But before you run for office you must submitt to the FBI your orginal birth certificate, parents back grounds, college records, passports(?)) and prove you are a citizen of the U.S.A. In the case of the President you must be a "Natural Born Citizen".
I figure since most of us here on the blog do write and sometimes speak with our Reps. now is a good time to move forward.
This would solve some of the problems we now face in our government. BO wanted change in the right direction this would be a start.
It does seem through the years senators gain power each and everytime each are elected. Kennedy, Murtha,Pelosi,Feinstein,Boxer and the list goes on and on.
With all the tea parties gaining attention might be a good time to get something positive done and going in the right direction since it seems the only way to get these people out of office.
Just some thoughts.

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing. Sounds like a message. Think anybody will ever solve this one? Or will it go down in the books with Ron Brown and the others in the Clinton skeleton closet?
Interesting Reward on www.theobamafile.com/obamalatest.htm if people need a reward in this country to uphold the constitution then so be it. $25,000,000 might be the answer.

After doing a review on terms limits the prospects of this happening are as likely as getting BO's long form birth certificate. ha ha
But the reward has possibilities and might shake something out in Kenya,HI,Mass,NY,CA,ILL let's see where else has he lived?
