According to the following poll:
Wednesday, February 24, 2010
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/congressional_performance
71% of likely voters rate the performance of congress as POOR.
That's the highest ever reported by this pollster and up 10 POINTS in just a month!
This report also reflects these other dubious congressional "accomplishments":
Regardless of political party, just 21% of voters believe you enjoy the consent of the governed.
Forty two percent believes most of you are corrupt!
Just nine percent of voters believe you are there to help us.
Eighty one percent believes you are just there to further your career.
Sixty three percent of VOTERS said it would be better
Just twenty seven percent felt their congressperson was the best possible person for the job.
When you and the rest of your colleagues asked for our votes you must have made commitments that we view as PROMISES. Can you honestly say that we now believe you have kept those?
Now, you will shortly be asked to, using a method (reconciliation) which, according to a recent Gallup poll is
opposed by a majority of voters and favored by only 39% of them, on a healthcare bill supported by just 41% of the people who you wish to retain your services and OPPOSED by 56% of them!I am only asking, as you consider your vote, that you are guided, not by your leadership and not even by your own personal feelings. I am asking, on behalf of those who elected you, that you be guided by the
promises that you gave, to the majority of those who placed you in your position, to consider their stated position on the issues. If you fail in this, please, do not insult us further, by asking that we ever place our trust in you again.Respectfully,
